BLOG No. 5 ~ GARY WOLFSTONE  :: "The Pike Place Market"

Gary L. Wolfstone

A Forward Scout in the Wilderness of the Legal Profession

WELCOME TO GARY WOLFSTONE'S BLOG 5 ~ Many Fond Memories at the Pike Place Market.

I will miss the Pike Place Market. I walk through the Market twice a week and view the people and venue with fresh eyes on each visit. On my last visit, I sat astride the Brass Pig (photo below) before strolling through the open air shops and listening to the amateur musicians. I am not sure whether the crowds are tourists or locals, but it is obvious that we all enjoy the sights and sounds of the Pike Place Market.

Lunch at the Copacabana is a delight. The Copa was founded by a Bolivian family who fled oppression in South America. Because I did some legal work for a son of one of the original founders, I gained the title "Don" a few years ago. I generally order the Bolivian Ensalada Copacabana. I love the terrace which enables you to watch the people milling around the cobblestone path below. The menu is varied, and the prices are reasonable. Given the Hispanic staff at the Copa, I always have an opportunity to communicate in Spanish. My grand daughter is Bolivian, and she enjoys the Copa since the Bolivian community in Seattle is small and tightly knit.

I am healthy because I walk three to five miles each day. I start at the foot of Queen Anne hill and mosey in the direction of the Pike Place Market. I have many fond memories of the Market and the people who inhabit the Market.
