If Mark Britton had been educated in Finland, he would have heard (and learned the meaning of) the expression Vaikea Koulussa, Helppo Työssä on more than one occasion. Given a good fetching up, Mr. Britton would have entered the work force with an appreciation of honesty and would have been less likely to trespass on the Washington D.C. web site ~ from whom he ripped off intellectual property contrary to the D.C. Bar Association's clear, compelling and unmistakable prohibition. Instead, Mr. Britton lives by his head-butting strategy depicted in the photo below. Avvo Watch advocates that Mark Britton is a Bad Pony who is destined for failure in the business world.
What we learn in school is difficult indeed, but once learned, our lessons are easy when applied in the work-a-day world. I was educated in the United States ~ save only a brief stint in the Finnish language at the Yliopisto Helsinki ~ but I have grand daughters who are coming up in the Finnish school system. I am constantly amazed at the quality of education in this miracle nation of 5.5 million people. Co-operation is the operative principle in Finland, and head-butting will only alienate the honest and hard working Finnish citizens. Mark Britton needs laboriously to rediscover the meaning of honesty through the obscured envelope of his misguided education. His avvo.com enterprise would never be tolerated in the Finnish legal system.
I am now a member of the Harvard Club of Finland (dominated by Harvard MBA's) and the Harvard Law School Club of Europe. I am working hard to educate my European colleagues about the tragedy of avvo.com. It is sad, but true, that Mark Britton has successfully transformed the American legal profession into a three ring circus ~ (1) lawyer bashing; (2) lawyer rating in a counterfeit system which lawyers can easily game with extravagant self-promotion; and (3) free legal advice with a counterfeit system which offers black letter law commentary in response to consumers' questions and then denies in a footnote under "Terms of Use" that free legal advice is legal advice.
