 I have not been very active in the Harvard Club of Finland, but I place a high personal value on my continued membership and my dues are fully paid-up to date. I can count on one hand the number of times that I have attended Club events in person over the past 16 years (usually at the Hannes Snellman law office), and my last attendance was shortly before May 30, 2018. I recall standing up at that last meeting and announcing to our group that Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, would be Harvard's Commencement Speaker. Hence my ability to recall the year of that particular date of my appearance and participation. Subsequently, I listened to and spoke at one remotely broadcast Harvard Club event about Tesla automobiles. I have never spoken a critical or harsh word at any Harvard Club meeting. I have never disrespected any Harvard Club member or officer at any Harvard Club meeting or zoom broadcast.
I had paused my law practice in Seattle in 1969 (and I am still a fully active bar lawyer) so that I could come to Finland and marry my wife. We had originally met in 2007 when she was visiting Seattle, and we had a two year engagement before we married. We were married on October 8, 2009 in Savolinna. I do not practice law or conduct any business in Finland. Because my wife wanted to live in Finland near her two sons, daughter, and grandchildren, we bought an asunto in Arabia Ranta. I also joined the Harvard Club of Zurich Switzerland because my wife's daughter is a lawyer in Switzerland and has served as in-house counsel for World Economic Forum. In the fullness of time, her daughter became the senior lawyer on the Forum's staff, and she travelled all over the world and appeared at Davos on behalf of the Forum. We do travel to Switzerland occasionally and hope to move to Switzerland eventually.
My professional life has been a success despite battle scars from 52 years of trial law. I am proud of my record of constancy and integrity and healing power in both my personal and professional life: for more than 50 years I have had the same CPA; for more than 50 years I have had the same bank; for more than 50 years I have had a perfect credit score with all three of the national credit companies; for more than 50 years I have had the same family; for more than 50 years I have maintained full and continuous membership in two bar associations (Washington and Oregon) as a practicing lawyer; and for more than 50 years I have had the same valued friends. On the first, last and only occasion when I needed legal assistance, I was represented by William Helsell, the immediate past president of my local bar association.
For more than 50 years I do not smoke; I do not drink alcoholic beverages; and I walk at least six miles every day. I have never been convicted of a crime. I have never been accused of mishandling or misappropriating money. I have never had a fee dispute with a client. My Trust Account has never been audited by the Bar Association. For more than 50 years I have kept a handwritten record in a book I call The Doomsday Book of every individual legal fee (date, time, place and specific dollar amount) that I have ever earned for 52 years as a practicing lawyer. I have never been treated by a psychiatrist or psychologist or mental health care professional.
"He Among You Who Is Without Sin, Let Him Cast the First Stone." My first, last, and only discipline occured in 1987. I don't live in the past, but no man can escape or avoid a Monster of Depravity who takes perverse pleasure in cirulating derogatory documents. Said Monster lives for the thrill of tearing down other people for their sins, errors and omissions again and again. In my case, the derogatory document in question is deeply flawed and substantialy inaccurate. The Bar Counsel had a serious conflict of interest which she never disclosed and worked hard to slander me for months and years after my Bar hearing. The Bar has never placed any restrictions or limitatiions on my license. This is the stuff of which Pardons are made.

I have succeeded at everything I have ever done. Au contraire, my detractors would say I have also failed at everything I have ever done.
With great enthusiasm and integrity, I sally forth. Providence has smiled upon me. I am a forward scout in the wilderness of the legal profession. To most of my clients, I am the hope amid the horror. My faith is strong, and I still believe that the human race is worth saving.
